Enoch Burke – A professor in the middle of a row over a transgender pupil has been sent to jail for a third term by a Dublin court.
Enoch Burke was captured by an Irish officer at Wilson’s Hospital School in County Westmeath on Monday declining to stay by a court order requiring him to stay away.
The school committee had ignored Burke from his position after a dispute over his rejection of identifying a transgender student’s new essence.
Burke was carried to the High Court in Dublin on Monday night, where a judge judged that he violated the current court order, and was to be produced to Mountjoy Prison.
Burke blamed the court for refusing him his sacred rights, which retained his faith in two genders, male and female. The verdict was met with an explosion of opinion from components of the Burke family present.
Background
Enoch Burke was paused by Wilson’s Hospital School in August 2022 after a general conflict with the then-principal. The extremely religious instructor had opposed using the unique character and the “they” pronoun of a researcher who liked to change gender.
Despite his break, Burke resumed to attend the academy. An injunction was given by a judge, stopping Burke from moving to Wilson’s Hospital.
This was breached by the coach, and he was detained in September 2022 for hatred of the court. He finished three months in Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison before being removed but was detained again in September 2023.
Burke was described by the bench that he would be removed if he simply pledged to stay by the order and remain away from the academy, but he decided not to do so.
The issue was positively publicized in Ireland, separating opinion between those who regarded Burke’s constitutionally guaranteed spiritual freedom as being persecuted, and those who believed his behavior, in academy and court, was inappropriate.

The coach was held up as a saint by numerous right-wing “anti-woke” broadcasters. Although Burke himself never aimed to represent himself as such.
With the academy stays in place, a High Court justice freed. Burke too in June this year but cautioned him the injunction stayed in place. He had paid more than 400 days in jail overall.
The judge voiced hope that Burke would deliberate on the situation. But on 22 August the coach produced to Wilson’s Hospital for the phased opening of the new term.
When Sky News talked to him at the academy gates. Burke demanded that his release from the academy was not useful, as the request procedure had not been finished, and told out that he was still being produced. He was there to accomplish his “commitment,” he said, which was to teach.
When questioned why he would not appreciate the student’s chosen identity. Burke stated: “I teach everyone who’s in a show of me. I teach every single pupil.
“But when I am controlled, when I’m informed that I can’t have my spiritual faith anymore, when. I’m informed I have to admit my belief in transgenderism, rather of my straightforward belief, which is mannish and female. That’s just a violation simply of my requests.”
The academy went to the High Court also last month, which showed to Monday’s committal.
“I hate prison, it’s a horrible place,” Burke just told Sky News.
“You forfeit your space, you’re after a door for 18 hours of daylight, at a best-case design. It’s a very hard life for those who are in there.”
