From Love to Bullying: Gus Walz’s Story

CHICAGO – A weeping, unscripted point between Tim Walz and his 17-year-old son, Gus Walz, has released a flood of recognition and respect – but also started homely online bullying.

Gus Walz, who has a nonverbal understanding disease as well as stress and ADHD, observed excitedly from the front row of Chicago’s United Center and wept openly Wednesday evening as his father, the Democratic candidate for vice president, provided his endorsement address at the Democratic National Convention.

Gus Walz leaped up from his chair, tears on his front, suggested his index finger, and stated, “I love you, Dad,” observed soon after with, “That’s my father!”

The emotional point between father and son, caught live by television cameras, quickly went viral and has mostly been welcomed on the internet and the airwaves.

Fox News transferred a clip of the viral point on its TikTok page, writing “Gus Walz swipes the show during dad’s endorsement speech.” The statements were overwhelmingly favorable.

“I hope to encourage my children so much that when they see me talk of the plans and passion. I have for my land they are driven to tears like Gus Walz was.” Chasten Buttigieg, spouse of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, registered on X.

“@Tim_Walz has devoted his life to benefit and has surpassed in being an excellent, supporting, and devoted father every phase of the way,” he wrote. “We should all be so fortunate to know a passion like that.”

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. Who told before Walz Wednesday night. Honored the passion between Walz and his kids.

“You know you’ve accomplished well as a parent. When your children are as proud of you as Gus and Hope,” she noted on X. “’ That’s my dad.’ No three terms better explain our following Vice President.”

Actress Mia Farrow counted: “Gosh! When immature Gus Walz. The charming son of Gwen and Tim Walz, his face streaming slashes of pride shouted ‘That’s my father’ he won my soul.”

But the display of tenderness triggered a swath of snark and hideous statements on social media. Multiple from MAGA followers of former President Donald Trump. Who met Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Walz.

Traditional columnist and right-wing firebrand Ann Coulter knocked the teenager’s incisions. “Talk about strange,” she noted on X. The statement has since been deleted.

USA TODAY called out to the Walz movement which refused to comment.

Trump movement spokesman Steven Cheung removed a statement to USA TODAY that communicated the movement “is concentrated on holding Walz and Harris responsible for their dangerously liberal approaches.

Trump came under fire in 2015 after he emerged to mimic a New York Times journalist with a disability. Critics expressed Trump’s taunts could inspire others to commit similar behavior.
